Crochet Witch Hat Pattern (Easy Halloween Mini Hat Decor)

This mini witch hat is a versatile Halloween accent — sew it onto an amigurumi character, use it as a topper for a decorative pumpkin, or add a loop and hang it as a small ornament.

Materials

• Black worsted weight yarn (about 25g)
• Small amount of orange or purple yarn for the hat band

Assembly

If made as two separate pieces, position the cone in the center of the brim and sew around the base to attach securely. For extra structure, insert a small circle of stiff felt or cardboard between the layers before sewing, or work a round of single crochet around the base of the cone through both layers to reinforce.

Hat Band

With orange or purple yarn, chain a length to wrap around the base of the cone. Single crochet across, fasten off, and wrap around the base where the cone meets the brim, sewing in place. Add a small bow or buckle shape cut from felt if desired.

Finishing

Weave in all ends. If using as an ornament, attach a small loop of yarn to the top point before final placement.

Tip: lightly starching the finished hat (a diluted fabric stiffener or even a light coat of white glue mixed with water, brushed on and left to dry) helps it hold its cone shape permanently.
